Place pieces of meat, sliced lengthwise across the grain, loosely onto a hot skillet.

Fry on all sides until a crust forms.

Transfer the meat to another dish, and in the same skillet, fry sliced onion (into quarter rings) with a teaspoon of corn flour for 1–2 minutes.

Then pour in the wine and bring it to a boil.

Return the meat to the pan.

Add boiling water or broth until it almost covers the meat, season with salt and spices, and simmer under a lid over low heat for about an hour.
