Prepare the syrup — mix sugar and water in a small saucepan and simmer over medium heat for about 5 minutes until the sugar dissolves. Increase heat and bring to a boil. While still warm, add vodka and brandy.

Cut two vanilla beans in half and place them at the bottom of a 1-liter glass jar or bottle (if you don’t like vanilla, you can skip this step).

Pour the liqueur into the jar, seal tightly, and store in a cool, dark place for 1–2 months.
The longer it sits, the smoother it will be. Shake it well once a week — this ensures even consistency.
The delicious coffee drink can last up to six months, so if you make it now, you’ll have a homemade vanilla liqueur ready for New Year’s.
