Whip room-temperature butter with sugar. Add cottage cheese (strained through a sieve) and mix until smooth. Add vanilla.

Add eggs one at a time and beat. Add flour sifted with baking powder. Knead the dough well.

Grease the baking dish with butter and sprinkle with flour, then add the dough. Slice the pears into rounds and press them into the batter.

Bake at 170°C for about an hour (I baked for nearly one and a half) until golden. Check doneness with a toothpick.
