Cut the pumpkin and carrots into moderately sized pieces.

Chop the onion and garlic. Toss them into a frying pan, sauté, then quickly add the carrots, followed by the pumpkin. Sauté all the vegetables for 10 minutes.

Transfer all vegetables to a pot and cover with water. Cook for 15 minutes after boiling. The vegetables will become soft. Use a blender to puree the soup. I had to drain some broth to avoid a watery consistency. Add cream. If only 10% cream is available, mix it with sour cream. Simmer for another 5 minutes.

Fry thin slices of bacon until crispy. Grate the cheese finely. Cut bread into cubes and toast in the oven to make croutons. Place the bacon on a plate.

Pour the soup over the bacon. Sprinkle with parmesan. Serve with croutons.
