Original Hungarian goulash is made with beef, lots of paprika, tomatoes and aromatic spices. The meat is slowly braised until tender, developing a deep flavor. Perfect with potatoes or egg noodles.

Step 1
Finely chop the onion and garlic.
Step 2
Heat a pot with a thick bottom, pour in some oil, and sauté the onion until lightly golden.
Step 3
Add garlic, paprika, salt, pepper, and caraway seeds to the onion.
Step 4
Mix well.
Step 5
Mix the broth and tomato paste, then add it to the pot. Stir well.
Step 6
Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low.
Step 7
Add the meat. Cook uncovered for about 1–1.5 hours until the meat becomes soft and tender.
